Our Talented Team at Tuschemy

Our Tuschemy workforce has expanded rapidly over the last few years. Currently we have 48 employees at our Cape Branch and 12 employees at our North Branch (Gauteng) which opened in 2023. Our highly competent, qualified, experienced, and motivated individuals implement and enhance Tuschemy’s Mission to deliver cost-effective, high-quality products supported by experienced technical expertise, ensuring optimal outcomes for our clients.

We prioritise the Development, Empowerment and Wellbeing of all staff through integrated programmes focusing on ongoing department specific technical skills both theory and practice, consistent reflection and recap strategies to ensure individual and company growth.

Mike Carr

Founder and Chief Executive Officer

As Tuschemy’s Founder and CEO, Mike brings deep industry experience and a pioneering spirit. He co-founded PWM Cape before launching Tuschemy with Robert de Mornay, expanding his focus from water treatment into multiple hygiene and biosecurity sectors. With a BSc in Chemistry and global experience as an analytical chemist, he guides the company’s vision and growth. Known for his supportive, hands-on leadership, Mike encourages skill development and innovation. Outside work, he enjoys reading, water sports and mountain biking.

Robert De Morney

Manufacturing and Operations

Robert is the Co-founder and Director of Manufacturing and Operations at Tuschemy. With a strong academic background in Mathematics and Chemistry, he began his career in propellant and explosive production, refining the technical skills that now underpin Tuschemy’s manufacturing processes. He oversees factory operations, ensuring efficiency, safety and top-quality standards while mentoring a diverse production team. Driven by problem-solving, cost optimisation and ethical leadership, Robert brings discipline and balance to his role — reflected in his love of exercise, camping and practical, results-focused action.

Jac Steyn

National Sales Director

Jac is the National Sales Director at Tuschemy, a position he has held since 2007. With expertise in Water Treatment technologies, Food and Beverage hygiene, Livestock Biosecurity, and Laundry systems, he brings extensive technical and sector experience. His BTech degree supports his innovative, solutions-driven approach to sales and process optimisation. Known for his honesty, calmness, and adaptability, Jac leads and mentors a strong sales team, builds lasting client relationships, and drives Tuschemy’s mission and strategic growth.

Helgaard Steenkamp

North Branch Manager

Helgaard is the North (Gauteng) Branch Manager at Tuschemy, joining in 2021 with a BSc in Biochemistry and Physiology and a Postgraduate Diploma in Project Management. He drives Tuschemy’s expansion across northern and eastern South Africa, as well as Zimbabwe and Mozambique. Known for reliability, innovation, and strong problem-solving skills, he excels in sales, technical support, supplier relations, and training. Guided by the principle “treat others as you want to be treated,” he builds a collaborative, optimistic team culture and enjoys nature, camping, cooking, hiking, and golf.

Merna Warnick

Executive Office Manager – Cape and North Branches

Merna is the Executive Office Manager for Tuschemy’s Cape and North branches. She joined the company in 2017 in an accounting role, and her precision, organisational strength, and integrity have made her an essential part of the management team. Known for her solution-driven approach, she manages diverse responsibilities and is currently completing a Risk Management course. Empathetic and community-minded, Merna values people deeply, guided by Richard Bach’s words: “We spend a great deal of our time at work; therefore I value every person I work with and meet.”

Jaco Pearson

Cape Regional Sales Manager

Jaco is the Cape Regional Sales Manager at Tuschemy, joining the company in 2020 with a strong foundation in industrial and water treatment chemicals. He holds a B.Eng in Chemical Engineering and a Diploma in Computer Science, enabling him to support clients with both technical insight and practical optimisation. Analytical, curious, and empathetic, Jaco builds long-term client relationships through efficiency and measurable results. He leads by example — prioritising accountability, precision, and consistent delivery. Outside work, he enjoys fitness, music, and technology.

Quan Thebus

Group General Manager

Quan is the Group General Manager at Tuschemy, joining the company in 2024 with extensive experience as an analytical chemist and leader in the chemical industry. He is currently completing an MSc in Strategic Supply Chain Management through the University of London. Guided by integrity, organisation and resilience, Quan focuses on change management, resource optimisation, talent development and operational excellence. Passionate about helping people grow, he also supports community initiatives that promote practical skills and stronger relationships.

Jan Rood

Regional North Divisional Manager

Jan is Tuschemy’s Regional North Divisional Manager, joining in 2025 with 29 years’ water treatment experience. Holding an NDip in Water Care Technology, he combines strong technical knowledge with practical expertise. Known for determination, loyalty, and teamwork, Jan has been key in expanding Tuschemy’s presence through exceptional service and value-added solutions. His leadership philosophy centers on leading by example and empowering teams and clients through collaboration, trust, and shared purpose, fostering success for all.
