Admin and Office Staff

Aims and Objectives

This workshop formed part of Tuschemy’s Development and Empowerment Series and aimed to deepen self-awareness and strengthen communication skills within the Administration and Office team through experiential learning, reflection, and open discussion.

Workshop Overview

The team revisited their personality profiles and Johari matrix from Workshop 1, reflecting on growth since their first session. Through back-to-back Lego building, partners constructed identical structures using verbal instruction alone — no face-to-face contact, no visual feedback. The exercise demanded clarity, patience and trust on both sides. Structured discussion around communication statements challenged the team to examine their assumptions, and a closing morse code activity pushed non-verbal communication and careful listening to the limit.

Key Insights

The team mapped the steps of effective communication as: sender → message → receiver → listen → understanding → confirmation → feedback. When ranking their communication skills, attitudes and values, message clarity, active listening, and transparency and honesty rose to the top.

Outcomes

The activities sparked genuine self-reflection and plenty of good-natured challenge within the team — reinforcing that effective communication is a skill that requires as much intention from the listener as from the speaker.
