Aims and Objectives
This workshop formed part of Tuschemy’s Development and Empowerment Series and aimed to strengthen teamwork, define shared values, and develop the skills and attitudes that build a thriving sales team through experiential learning and collaboration.
Workshop Overview
Using the Toyota Kata process, the team worked through timed puzzle-building challenges requiring strategy, communication and rapid adaptation. They each assessed a bank of twenty teamwork traits before collaborating on a shared set of values as a team. The logo design activity sparked plenty of discussion, with the final concept reflecting the Sales team’s role in building strong client relationships through product knowledge and problem solving. The workshop concluded with a team affirmation exercise and a cross-departmental competition against Management and the Office team — including construction duplication, puzzle racing and a tallest tower challenge.
Key Insights
The Sales team aligned strongly around six teamwork values: a leader of leaders, a clear plan of action, defined goals, defined roles and responsibilities, monitoring progress, and a commitment to collaborating and growing together. Puzzle results improved significantly by the final round as the team refined their strategy and reduced the number of hands working the puzzle at once.
Outcomes
The affirmation exercise closed the workshop on a high, with the Sales team reflecting openly on what makes their team work:
“We all know that we are all different — we embrace this and support each other.”
“A balance of different personalities all working well together towards a common goal makes a great working environment.”
“The continued growth of each one of us — and the fun of working together.”
